The Europa League is often criticised for its lack of quality, and a bizarre sequence of events during Standard Liege’s clash with Sevilla will do little to change that perception.

Standard Liege won 1-0 courtesy of Moussa Djenepo’s goal, while Sevilla ended the game with ten men following the dismissal of Pablo Sarabia.

However, it was 15 seconds of action towards the end of the game that provided the biggest talking point.

In the clip, Sevilla defender Simon Kjaer tries to head the ball back to his goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik, but the two players end up colliding.

Standard were subsequently presented with an inviting opportunity to score, but they were unable to take it, with one of their players dispossessing a team-mate before hitting the crossbar when he really should have scored.
