Alexander Albon spins out during opening lap as Lewis Hamilton and Co continue to assess cars ahead of next season in F1 winter testing

- It was a chilly morning and lack of heat in the tires may have caught him out
- Albon’s car was recovered to the pits and the Thai-British driver then continued
- Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton worked on aero tests with new W10
Alexander Albon failed to last a lap as he span out on the second day of F1 winter testing.
The Thai-British driver may have underestimated the temperature of his tires on a cold morning at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and his car had to be recovered to the pits.
There was a delay as a tow truck was called to the side of the circuit and the car lifted onto it.

A tow truck pulled the car onto it before Toro Rosso began work on repairs in the pits
After the break in proceedings Albon was eventually able to get back out
Fortunately Toro Rosso managed to get Albon back out on track to they could continue to assess his progress.
Albon wasn’t alone in spinning out. Daniel Ricciardo found himself in the gravel after losing part of his rear wing.
No doubt the Renault engineers will be desperate to work out what caused such a mishap but this is the time to make the mistakes.
Lewis Hamilton was able to put in a number of laps for the Mercedes garage to survey and analyse.
Driving in his new W10, the world champion’s team tweeted that they were working on typical aero tests.
